Joan Pennau, Ph.D. won the second seat on the 21st of February the primary election for the Fond du Lac School Board. Our four candidates were chosen to go through to the next election on April 4th.

School Board members are the unsung heroes in towns across the nation. They determine the strategy and objectives for the public schools and the performance standards for schools and superintendents in their individual districts.
Joan Pennau has a Ph.D. in Education and experience in both the education and the business sectors.
Her experience in education includes being a Fond du Lac Kindergarten through grade 12 graduate, teaching for six years in Chicago and Seattle public elementary schools and work as an elementary school Vice Principal. She has also conducted teacher education courses at University/College level for six years and has co-authored a language arts textbook "Elementary Language Arts Instruction'' published by Prentice Hall.
As the proprietor and president of Wright Bros. Paper Box Co., she played an essential role in the business and administration sector. In addition, she served as Chairperson of the National Paper Box Association's Board of Directors and had the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors of Marian College (now Marian University), First Wisconsin-Firstar-US Bank, United Way, and her church administration team.
These experiences taught her collegial leadership, which is essential as a school board member. She is passionate about education and genuinely wants to improve the educational experiences for all students in Fond du Lac. With a thorough grasp of educational districts' challenges, Joan has well-researched solutions. She also has a proven track record of community engagement and leadership as well as the ability to successfully convey her vision and ideas to the public.
